Ischia

Ischia was unconfined for a child who was learning about freedom and found out that it fitted with the pure beauty.

Erri De Luca

The Island of Ischia offers many corners to discover, adventures to live and stories to hear.

The biggest island of the Phlegraean archipelago of Naples, it is also called Green island. For some it is for its lush flora; actually, the island of Ischia is rich of tuffaceous stones originated by pyroclastic flows of the Epomeo mountain (once a volcano), that after sinking in the sea more than 55 thousand years ago and then resurfacing between 28 and 15 thousand years ago, they enriched themselves with mineral salts that gave them the characteristic grey-green colour.

Divided into 6 towns (Ischia, Barano, Serrara Fontana, Forio, Lacco Ameno, Casamicciola Terme), each of them offers many reasons to visit: unforgettable beaches, hot springs in open air, history, art, culture and nature.
With time, its waters in particular, have made this thermal centre one of Europe’s major ones. Its landscapes, natural scenery of many films (the last one, “My Brilliant Friend” based on the books of Elena Ferrante), and venue of two important film festivals as well: Ischia Film Festival and Ischia Global Fest.

You absolutely can’t leave without...
  • trying the multi sensorial experience of the romantic and blooming Mortella Gardens, with its Mediterranean and subtropical plants, fruit of the love between Lady Susana and Sir William Walton
  • discovering at nightfall the secrets of the Aragon Castle, a fortification dating back to 474 BC, in its first version, and located on an islet adjoining to the village of Ischia Ponte
  • swimming at night time in the waters that light up naturally, thanks to the phenomenon of the bioluminescence
  • going for a trekking under the stars to admire the Universe and to discover the secrets related to celestial objects, which have always fascinated men.

And if it’s not enough, we are ready to create an itinerary to Ischia that satisfies personal passions, ideas and needs.
