That prosperous country had Benevento as its capital, the most beautiful and mighty city of southern Italy.
The Sannio was an upland, in the centre of ancient Italy, inhabited by the Sanniti people between the VII-VI century BC and the I century AD. It extended from the southern lands of Abruzzo up to the northern ones of Apulia, englobing a good part of the current Molise and the north-eastern areas of Campania.
Today, it identifies itself mainly with the province of Benevento, the town that represents the main hub.
Far from the most famous and usual tourist itineraries, Sannio is rich in breathtaking places to discover, evocative towns perched on hills, inner cities as open-air museums and landscapes to be surrounded with, for adventures in contact with the uncontaminated nature.
Moreover, Sannio is the land of wine to be tasted, among the most important ones, the Sannio DOC and the Sannio’s Falanghina DOC, as well of pottery, with the village of Cerreto Sannita, which is “one of the 46 Italian towns of pottery”.
And if it’s not enough, we are ready to create an itinerary in Sannio that satisfies personal passions, ideas and needs.
