Ah, I wouldn’t ask to be a seagull, nor a dolphin; I would be content to be a scorpion fish, the ugliest fish in the sea, just to be down there, playing in that water.
Procida is rich of authentic flavours, pastel colours and breathtaking views.
It is the smallest island of the Phlegraean archipelago and it is known as Arturo’s Island, a character who represents its wild soul, from the homonymous book written by Elsa Morante. Others know it also as the island of “The Postman”, a film of Massimo Troisi who has shot some scenes here.
An island very connected to its culture, thanks to the literary festival/contest which takes place every year.
But what strikes mostly about Procida is with no doubt the colour of its houses, perched one on top of the other. Each of them has a different one, so that the fishermen could recognise their own from the sea too. An uncontaminated village, where silence and nature cross its history.
Nevertheless, it happens to be swept away by the folklore of a little old lady who lowers the basket from her window, or of a greengrocer who pulls his cart, or even of the fluttering sheets hung out under the sun.
In addition, its luxuriant wild nature appears in the State Nature Reserve Vivara Island, part of a volcanic crater that originated nearly 55 thousand years ago, joined to Procida by a small bridge long approximately 100 metres.
And if it’s not enough, we are ready to create an itinerary to Procida that satisfies personal passions, ideas and needs.
